RALEIGH - The Affordable Care Act kicks in on October first, and a North Carolina broker says insurance companies are going all-out to sign up young people.

Jason Osbourne of Blue Bridge Benefits says Obama Care relies on young, healthy policyholders to offset the cost of older people in the insurance pool.

"And that's the big fear from some of these companies is that these college kids, younger kids, that are young and healthy may not do that. That's the big fear and that's who some of these companies are targeting right now."

Some preliminary estimates for policies under the Affordable Care Act show young people paying significantly more for insurance.
