NC Sea Grant Assesses Potential Coastal Hazards

WILMINGTON -  It is peak hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean and North Carolina Sea Grant wants to make sure that everyone along the coast is ready to deal with different hazards associated with coastal living.

Sea Grant Adaptation Specialist Jess Whitehead says they want to make sure people are ready.

"What we'll be doing is coming into the community and doing  ground level assessment of what some of the vulnerabilities of coastal hazard"

This program is going to work with local officials in Hyde County. North Carolina Sea Grant is a faction of NC State University and they are working with Georgia Sea Grant and UGA on a compare and contrast study of each state's coastal hazards.
