RALEIGH -- New data from AARP is reinforcing the economic impact of Social Security contributions in North Carolina.
AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond says Social Security’s $762 billion in benefits sparked almost 1.4 trillion in total national spending last year.
"Every dollar of social security received in North Carolina generates $1.89 of total output. This adds up to $45.2 billion in economic output for North Carolina and contributes jobs."
the analysis by AARP’s Public Policy Institute finds 9.2 million jobs benefited from Social Security contributions in 2012 ... 309-thousand jobs in North Carolina.
