RALEIGH -- The North Carolina State Fair opened Thursday with people flocking into Raleigh to take in the sights, try some food they didn't know could be deep fried, and maybe test their bravery on a few rides. Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry wants everyone to know that North Carolina has the strictest regulations for a ride to be deemed safe in the country.
According to Berry, "North Carolina has a 100% rule. And it means that each ride has to be inspected to 100% of the manufacturers specifications to operate safely, or we don't put a sticker on it."
The fair runs through the 27th, where they are offering a park-and-ride service in an attempt to ease congestion. More information is available at ncstatefair.org.
