RALEIGH -- New laws are set to go into affect for the 2016 election, laws that have drawn a lot of controversy during their short lives. North Carolina NAACP President Dr. William Barber says this new Voter ID law is a regression for North Carolina lawmakers.

According to Barber, "What we have seen now in North Carolina, is that according to the polls the public is very much against this voter suppression law...The Governor continues to distort the facts, he continues to engage in propaganda. This is not about voter ID, this is voter suppression."

Barber added that the extreme portion of the process is that North Carolina legislators are repealing laws meant to provide equality.
