RALEIGH -- Prescription drug abuse is a problem for many Americans and one precaution we can take to fight that abuse is disposing of these medications properly. Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin says there is a program to help this cause.

"Operation medicine drop is a program that my team has lead for a number of years where we partner with national, state and local agencies, particularly our law enforcement agencies. We are asking folks to offer up any unused or expired prescription drugs or over the counter medications."
