Raleigh -- North Carolina is the first of 33 states to begin a program to compensate the victims and family members of victims who underwent the process of eugenics -- the selective sterilization of humans to rid the population of certain characteristics that were deemed unfit. The deadline for victims and family members of North Carolina's sterilization program is quickly approaching. Dee Jones, from the North Carolina Department of Administration, says it is vital for victims to submit this form on time.
Jones said, "The most important thing, that's relative to the upcoming deadline, is that a claim form must be filed. That claim form can be received by calling our 800 number or going online to www.sterilizationvictims.nc.gov."
The deadline for the claim to be filed and postmarked is June 30th, 2014.
