RALEIGH -- The latest take on the U.S. Senate Race still shows incumbent Democrat Kay Hagan leading Republican Rep. Thom Tillis, but Tom Jensen with Public Policy Polling says there are factors which could narrow that margin.
"A month ago we had Kay Hagen up by 7 points, now the lead is down to 4 when you include the Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh. When you take him out of the mix, since most of his supporters' second choice is Tillis, Hagen's lead goes all the way down to 1 point."
Jensen says that many who support Libertarian Sean Haugh list Tillis as their second choice and often people who tell pollsters they will vote for a third party candidate often end up selecting a member of a major party come election day.
