CHARLOTTE -- Dr. Heath Morrison, who has served as the superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since 2012, announced his resignation Monday, citing family reasons. Morrison specifically mentions his mother and her health in his letter of resignation. CMS Chief Communication Officer Kathryn Block announced that Deputy Superintendent Ann Clark would take over in the interim.
Block said, "She comes to this role with a very strong background and can certainly help the district as it moves forward, in this time of transition."
Clark was named a finalists for the superintendent position before Morrison was hired in 2012.
