CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte's former Mayor Patrick Cannon will spend the remaining days leading up to his reporting to federal prison, on November 18, under house arrest. The new restrictions come after Cannon voted in the mid-term elections, which is illegal since Cannon is now a convicted felon. Cannon apologized following the court hearing.

Cannon said, "I first want to, simply, apologize to this community - as I did to the court, and as I did to the government - about what took place in the way of a vote. I want to thank the court this day, thank the judge, for understanding and acknowledging the idea that this was a careless judgement and error, on my behalf."

Cannon was sentenced to 44 months in prison, in October, for accepting bribes from undercover agents that he believed were developers intending to fast track a project.
