RALEIGH - If you're friends with a car aficionado, this weekend you may find them at the State Fairgrounds instead of their garage. That's where the Goodguys National Car Show will be held and public relations director Betsy Bennett says there will be an exhibition for all kinds of cars.

"This event will be a showcase of about 1,500 hotrods, customs and classic cars on display," Bennett says. "In addition to those cars, we also open it up for all American vehicles. So if it's American made or powered, you can also bring it up."

Bennett says there will be a charity event in partnership with the Austin Hatcher Foundation fighting pediatric cancer.

"We're taking our auto-cross program and with the pro-drivers' help, we're offering ride to people who come to the event," Bennett says. "You can ride with a professional driver on the course for a $20 donation to the foundation."

And Bennett says there is something for everyone; even a Revell model car workshop for kids who may not be buying car parts just yet.

"Usually at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, the kids can come into this area and get a free model kit that's been donated, put it together and have a souvenir of the event," she says.

Not only does the car show have model cars for kids, but there will be an adult-size version of car-building with a swap meet for car parts.

"If you're looking for a difficult part to find, the swap meet is an amazing bargain-shopping paradise," she says."

The event is all weekend long, starting Friday April 17. For more information, you can go to good-guys.com.
