New Bern, NC - Learn about 18th and 19th century slave narratives and their impact on the abolitionist movement during the February Lunch and Learn at the North Carolina History Center, held at noon Friday, Feb. 19. Attendees will learn about life during and after slavery as they listen to the words of African American authors from the period. This program will have a particular focus on enslaved African Americans who spent time in North Carolina..

This monthly brownbag lunch series will be held in the Cannon Gateway Gallery of the North Carolina History Center, in historic downtown New Bern.

Tickets for each Lunch and Learn are $6 per person and free for Tryon Palace Foundation members. Each Lunch and Learn will begin at noon and guests will meet in Mattocks Hall inside the North Carolina History Center.

Tryon Palace will celebrate Black History Month with two programs this month. In addition to Lunch and Learn, the monthly African American Lecture Series on Thursday, Feb. 18, will focus on the stories of African Americans that fought in the Civil War.
