Raleigh, NC - The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing Wednesday to receive public comments on the draft NPDES stormwater discharge permit for Duke Energy’s Asheville Steam Electric Plant.

WHEN: 6 p.m. Feb. 24; speaker registration begins at 5 p.m.

WHERE: Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Ferguson Auditorium, 340 Victoria Rd., Asheville

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing Wednesday to receive public comments on the draft NPDES stormwater discharge permit for Duke Energy’s Asheville Steam Electric Plant.

The draft stormwater permit and related documents are available online at:https://deq.nc.gov/news/hot-topics/coal-ash-nc/2015-npdes-permits.

Printed copies of the draft permit and related documents may be reviewed at the department’s Asheville Regional Office, 2090 U.S. 70 Highway, Swannanoa. To make an appointment to review the documents, please call 828-296-4500.

Public comments on the draft permit modification should be mailed to: Stormwater Permitting, 1612 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1612.

The public comment period for the Asheville draft permit ends Wednesday. All written and verbal comments received by that date will be considered in the final determination regarding permit modification and issuance.
