If you're in the market for a new family pet, this weekend is the perfect time to make that happen.
For more than a month the ASPCA has been caring for hundreds of animals seized from a North Carolina shelter in conditions that the Hoke County Sheriff called "awful and very sad." Officials say the hundreds of dogs and cats are ready for adoption and the ASPCA is holding a three-day event this weekend in Sanford to place the animals in forever homes.
ASPCA officials say the 696 animals seized in January from The Haven-Friends for Life shelter set a rescue record for the the group that has since been caring for the pets and nursing them back health.
The three day adoption event will be held Friday, March 18, through Sunday, March 20, at 2215 Nash Street, Sanford, NC 27330
