RALEIGH -- As of Wednesday, Roy Cooper lead incumbent Republican Governor Pat McCrory by just over 10,000 votes, a key tipping point in determining whether a recount can be called.
With key counties including Forsythe and Wake completing tallies, the current gap is 10,329.
North Carolina Democratic Party Chairwoman Patsy Keever released the following statement after Governor-Elect Roy Cooper’s lead grew to 10,329:
“Governor McCrory, it’s over. Governor-Elect Roy Cooper’s lead is more than 10,000, and it’s time to accept the will of the people. We congratulate Governor-Elect Cooper again on a hard-fought victory, and we look forward to working with him to build a better North Carolina.”
In media reports, McCrory said he is still willing to let the process work itself out.
