(RALEIGH) -- U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan plans to continue her campaign to create jobs in North Carolina and help small businesses after legislation she championed was defeated in the Senate last week. She is holding another event in her North Carolina Back to Work Jobs Tour.
North Carolina's junior Senator pushed hard for the Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act, but it was blocked with a 53-44 vote. While Sen. Hagan had said that she felt the measure had bi-partisan support, she ended up voicing her disappointment over what she called partisanship after the bill failed to make it through the Senate.
Hagan’s jobs tour so far has focused on workforce development, retaining existing industry, and growing industries of the future. She is now planning a jobs summit on Friday in Raleigh. The state’s top leaders in business, economic development and education are expected at Friday's summit.
The event will be moderated by North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center President Billy Ray Hall. It takes place at 10:30 on Friday at the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center in Raleigh. The public is also welcome to attend simply by sending an RSVP to:
