(RALEIGH) -- Funeral services for former state auditor Ralph Campbell have been announced for Saturday in the Wake County town of Garner at noon. A memorial service will be held Friday night at the Progress Energy Center in Raleigh.
Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton said Campbell will always be remembered fondly in state circles. "The legacy in this state, a great leader, a great pioneer, a great friend. He always had a positive outlook on life. He was always about trying to find opportunities for people," said Dalton.
Campbell died Tuesday night after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was 64.
