(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- President Barack Obama will try to convince the American people and Congress in his State of The Union Speech that he has a vision for speeding up job creation while reining in a growing debt. Second District North Carolina Congresswoman Renee Ellmers said Congress and the President have to move forward with spending cuts.

"We have areas that we can cut and they're just ideas, but there are so many programs, there are so many things that are being done that we just don't need.  And the American people understand that and we as representatives have got to bite the bullet and just go for it," said Ellmers.

Meanwhile, House Republicans will hold a nonbinding vote Tuesday on a resolution that promises cuts approaching 20 percent of the budgets for agencies like the departments of Education and Commerce when Congress wraps up the long-overdue budget for the current fiscal year.
