(RALEIGH) -- As the North Carolina General Assembly convenes a new legislative session, state NAACP President Rev. William Barber has announced his organization's legislative priorities. The group also announced a march in Raleigh to highlight the priorities.
"Provide educational equality for every child, don't balance the budget on the backs of the poor, don't undermine equal protection under the law for every citizen, and don't slash vital programs that will keep North Carolina from moving forward," said Barber.
A march on Raleigh is planned for February 12. The event is being organized jointly by the state chapter of the NAACP and the Historic Thousands on Jones Street Coalition.
