(RALEIGH) -- A bill being considered by state House lawmakers would outlaw a little-known designer drug frequently marketed online as plant food.
Republican Representative George Cleveland is the primary sponsor of legislation that would make it illegal to possess, manufacture or sell Mephedrone. Cleveland says he's concerned that young people are using household products to get high.
"I'm not sure where we're going to go with all this stuff, but we can't outlaw the world. I don't know where we're going to draw the line, but it's going to have to be drawn eventually," he said.
Raleigh police originally linked the deaths of two men to Mephedrone, but an autopsy later determined the men died from lethal doses of oxymorphone, a potentially addictive pain reliever.
A similar bill is also being considered in the state Senate.
