(RALEIGH) -- North Carolina and the nation are still feeling the effects of the unrest in Egypt. Tom Crosby with Carolina's Triple-A Motorclub in Charlotte says, "the statewide average [for a gallon of self-serve unleaded regular] has risen two cents from a week ago to $3.07."
Crosby says the Triad area continues to have the lowest average pump prices at $3.04, but that cheaper gas can be found. A handful of stations in the Greensboro-Winston-Salem-High Point area are under $3.00. Crosby says speculators are apparently feeling better about the situation in Egypt, the barrel of crude has now again dropped below $90.00
According to a newly released survey, the price increase in the state is greater than the national average. The latest data from the Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday cites the national increase to be1.49 cents. However, the overall state average for a gallon of self-serve unleaded regular remains five cents below the national average.
