(RALEIGH) -- Planned Parenthood is canvassing the country hoping to convince members of Congress to not to take their money away. The group made a stop in Raleigh on Tuesday.

Melissa Reed of Planned Parenthood said her organization is under attack on Capitol Hill.  "Congress has introduced a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and prevent us from offering basic family planning and breast and cervical cancer screening to women," said Reed.

Reed added that there are many states, including North Carolina, where Planned Parenthood is a primary provider and many cannot afford for that to disappear.  She confirmed that North Carolina U.S. Senator Kay Hagan is a supporter of their cause.  She also said that they are working on getting support from North Carolina's other Senator, Richard Burr.
