(RALEIGH) -- Now that N.C. State University has hired former Alabama basketball coach Mark Gottfreid, many are asking questions about the search. Wolfpack athletic director Debbie Yow said she does not agree with criticisms that she is difficult to work with.
She responded to questions about when she was the Athletic Director at the University of Maryland, and her dealings with the head basketball coach there, Gary Williams. "I don't have a reputation across all men's basketball of being difficult to work with. I have a reputation of not getting along with Gary Williams who has tried to sabotage the search, come on," said Yow.
Several candidates there were thought to be in the running, including Virginia Commonwealth's Shaka Smart and Wichita State's Greg Marshall. Both decided to stay at their current jobs.
Williams has denied contacting any coach or athletic director associated with the search for an N.C. State University basketball coach.
