(RALEIGH) -- North Carolina's first toll road is scheduled to open by the end of the year. The North Carolina Turnpike Authority told News 14 Carolina that it's all electronic, and the toll could be about 15 cents per mile for drivers using a transponder and 24 cents a mile for those not using one.
Linda Nisbit is as resident of western Wake County, and said she's not enthusiastic about using the 12.6 mile segment of highway. "I probably will stick with the 40 free, definitely, unless time is of the essence and I have to get somewhere in a big hurry," she said.
The Triangle Parkway will connect the Durham Freeway to NC 540 around Research Triangle Park.
