(RALEIGH) -- The state House voted to move ahead with a notable change in public school testing. An approved measure would require education leaders to use a different assessment for students.
"The State Board shall plan and require the administration of the ACT in the 11th grade. The ACT focuses on english, math, science and there is a writing component," said bill sponsor, Rep. Tricia Cotham.
The bill also allows for the acceptance of SAT results in the achievement of Common Core standards that have been adopted by 42 states. The bill will now be considered by the Senate.
