(ELON) -- The most recent Elon University Poll has yielded some very interesting numbers.   When it comes to representation by our state's U.S. senators, only 27 percent disapprove of the job Republican Sen. Richard Burr is doing.

Poll director Hunter Bacot said the disapproval percentage is far out distanced by those who think Sen. Burr is doing a good job. "Forty-six percent were satisfied with how he's representing North Carolina and similar numbers for (Sen. Kay) Hagan, 44 percent approving of her handling of her job and 48 percent satisfied with her representation," said Bacot.

That is in stark contrast to respondents' opinion of Congress as a whole, according to Bacot.  Only 18 percent approve of what the U.S. House and Senate are doing.
