(RALEIGH) -- Midday passenger rail service between Charlotte and Raleigh is back in business as of Friday April 22. The service was put on hold for about ten weeks to allow for track improvement.
Pat Simmons with the state Rail division said there are various groups who have use the service the most in the past. "We saw a strong response particularly from the business community that had more opportunities to use the trains for business travel. We also saw emergence of students that were commuting to and from school," said Simmons.
The improvement project included reconditioning tracks, signals and bridges. Simmons said passengers should expect a smoother ride and better on-time reliability.
