(RALEIGH) -- The North Carolina DMV has started mailing a larger, more detailed vehicle registration renewal form. Marge Howell of the DMV said it will be a regular-sized piece of paper.

"It carries a little more information, hopefully things that will help people who are renewing their registration.  It will also tell you whether you need to get a new plate if your plate is one of those that has been called in," said Howell.

There are multiple criteria that the DMV uses to determine whether you need a new license plate.
