(RALEIGH) -- Recruiting and retaining teachers continues to be an uphill battle across North Carolina. In an effort to change that, Congressman David Price has introduced the "Keep Teachers Teaching" act, which contains modest grants to make teaching a more attractive career.
"To encourage states and local school systems to undertake these efforts to enhance the teaching career, to give teachers opportunities of professional development and professional engagement outside the classroom - retention efforts that we can then fund." Price said.
He added that the Kenan Fellows Program and Leadership Development at N.C. State University is a great curriculum for developing teachers.
