(RALEIGH) -- Oppressive heat has a grip on North Carolina this week. National Weather Service meteorologist Jonathan Blaes said some records might be broken.
"In addition to just the hot air, the atmosphere is going to be moist so heat indices will approach 100/105 the next couple of days. That means it will fell like it's above 100 outside so that will be an issue and also with this type of pattern we typically get poor air quality as the air is fairly stagnant and doesn't get cleaned out," said Blaes.
He recommends staying indoors Tuesday and and Wednesday as much as possible. Most health experts recommend that if you have to do work outside, try to do it early in the morning and later in the afternoon and early evening.
