(RALEIGH) -- State lawmakers are waiting to see what Gov. Beverly Perdue will do with the hundreds of bills they passed and sent for her to review. Senate President Phil Berger said he is trying to be optimistic about the fate of those bills.
"My hope is that she'll sign them all, or if she really has some questions about them and doesn't want to sign them that maybe she'll just not sign them and let them become law without her signature. I would hope that she would refrain from using the veto, but we'll just have to wait and see," said Berger.
The governor made history by placing a red veto stamp on the two-year budget bill, which became law when Republicans overrode her with the help of a handful of Democrats.
