(RALEIGH) -- Some much-needed rain fell across the state bringing high winds and hail to some areas on Monday. National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Sharpe said more is on the way.
"Actually this work week we'll probably see some of our better rain chances we've seen in about three or four weeks or so. It looks like there will be a threat for showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening this week with the better coverage anticipated for tomorrow (Wednesday) and possibly into Thursday as well," said Sharpe.
Many areas in the northern part of the state got several inches of rain on Monday. Roanoke Rapids in Halifax County experienced high winds and as much as 5 inches of rain. Much of the town was left in the dark Monday night when the power went out.
