(RALEIGH) -- A heat advisory is in effect for much of the state on Tuesday. North Carolina News Network Meteorologist Mike Moss said a high pressure system is likely to bring the hottest day so far this year.
"We'll see high temperatures that reach mid-90's to low 100's this afternoon with the heat index reaching around 105 to 110 when you combine in a rather humid air mass over North Carolina as well," said Moss.
Only some areas in the mountains, foothills and along the immediate coast are excluded from that heat advisory today. Moss added that Wednesday should bring much of the same with it being only a degree or two cooler.
