(RALEIGH) -- North Carolina's road paving, maintenance needs and bridge upgrades will receive a boost in the new state budget, according to the President of the North Carolina Senate. Sen. Phil Berger said exactly how much money the transportation budget will receive depends on several factors.
"A lot of that is obviously dependent on the revenues that come in from sales of motor vehicles and from other revenue sources, but if those revenue sources hold up as projected I think the people will see great progress being made as far as our roads are concerned," said Berger.
He added that some construction costs have gone up because many products rely on oil bases, and oil prices continue to climb.
