(RALEIGH) -- The North Carolina Children's Promise Radio Telethon raised $1.1 million this year for the North Carolina Children's hospital. The money will go towards helping children like Kia Strickland, who has stayed in the hospital for five years.
Her grandmother Cathy says Kia is truly an inspiration. "I look at her and see all the things she's been through and I say to myself that I shouldn't complain about anything," she said.
Curtis Media Group has sponsored Children's Promise since 2001.
