(RALEIGH) -- President Obama is in the middle of his three-day bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia to tout his American Jobs Act.  However, the President may notice that wherever he stops, a tow truck will be nearby.

"It is just a symbolic gesture," said North Carolina Republican Party Chair Robin Hayes. "We said we'll tow your bus back to Washington for free if you'll get on Air Force One and go back and work to create jobs for America."

Hayes said cruising the back roads to sell his American Jobs Act is not where the President should be. "He should be in Washington, D.C. working with Republicans and Democrats, who do have some agreement on parts of the spending plan, which might relate to jobs."

Hayes confirmed that the party did ask the Secret Service before going ahead with the veiled protest of the President's bus tour.
