(RALEIGH) -- Ahead of next summer's Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, there have been rumors that some of the thousands of jobs that the convention will create, will not go to North Carolinians, but instead to out of state, unionized contractors. Tom Fetzer, former chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, said this is no rumor.

"The DNC has acknowledged it. The people involved in the Charlotte convention have acknowledged it and the national committee is outsourcing a lot of business contracts to non-state for staging activities because of its policy of working with only working with unionized vendors," said Fetzer.

The Democratic Party’s Host Committee has denied the allegations that non-union businesses would not be allow to bid for contracts. “The notion that the host committee will only allow unionized firms to bid is categorically untrue,” said Committee for Charlotte 2012 Executive Director Dan Murrey. “The Committee for Charlotte 2012 encourages all firms to submit proposals for goods and services."

North Carolina is a Right to Work state, which means workers cannot be forced to join a union in order to work.
