(RALEIGH) -- A new poll from the conservative Civitas Institute shows President Obama's approval number are wavering in North Carolina. Spokesman Francis Deluca said their findings show that the lack of jobs in the economy is hurting the President's ratings.

"What we saw from our poll in May was a 14 point drop in his job approval rating. He went from a 51 to 45 percent positive approval.  This month we had him at 44 percent approve, 52 percent disapprove," said Deluca.

The poll also shows that Gov. Rick Perry of Texas would beat the President in the North Carolina primary.
