(GREENSBORO) -- Many children across North Carolina are heading back to school this week. School officials continue making parents aware of immunization requirements.

Children starting school for the first time and other age groups must have specific vaccinations. "We have to start suspending students, according to state law, after 30 calendar days, so time is running out for parents to get that shot for students, but we want all of our students to be immunized well before the deadline and have turned in their documentation because we don't want anyone to miss school," said Guilford County Schools spokeswoman, Laurie Hogan.

There are several sources for parents who have questions. They can call their school directly, contact their regional office, or go on line at http://www.immunize.nc.gov/schools/schools.htm.
