(ASHEVILLE) -- Authorities say a tragic fire last week at an office building in Asheville that cost the life of Fire Captain Jeff Bowen was no accident. ATF Charlotte field division spokesman Earl Woodham said this means the person or persons responsible are in serious trouble.

"Based upon the results of the investigation we know that it was deliberately set. This is a crime. It is now a homicide investigation as well as an arson investigation," said Woodham.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to call the ATF Arson Hotline at 888-ATF-FIRE or the SBI at 800-334-3000. All information received regarding this case will be kept confidential.
