(CHARLOTTE) – Thousands of Charlotteans joined Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Tuesday to officially kick off the 2012 Democratic National Convention. Among the notable events of the morning was the unveiling of the Convention logo.
The official 2012 Democratic National Convention logo symbolizes Americans coming together, according to Wasserman Schultz. “This convention’s success will be based on engaging the American spirit and involving people who want to put their shoulder to the wheel and change the country for the better,” said Wasserman Schultz.
Also on hand for the kick-off was Charlotte Mayor and Committee for Charlotte 2012 Co-Chair Anthony Foxx, Democratic National Convention Chief Executive Officer Steve Kerrigan, and former Charlotte Mayor Harvey Gantt.
