(WAKE FOREST) -- In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 15 minutes, claiming more than 34,000 lives each year. Carolyn Zahnow's teenage son committed suicide a few years ago, and she has started a walk to help with the healing process. "Immediately, our family was reduced to just two of us. And the rest of the family, everyone was devastated by the loss. But taking it on further, yes, I want to stop, prevent as many suicides as possible," she said. "I'm writing a book, I started a support group for others who have lost people to suicide, and I have a walk coming up."

The "Out of the Darkness Walk" will be held in wake Forest on November 12th.
