(CHAPEL HILL) -- With bowl eligibility now ensured, there's a question whether interim UNC head football coach Everett Withers should be promoted to full-time status.

A new poll from Public Policy Polling finds that Carolina fans haven't seen enough to judge, according to director Tom Jensen. "Those folks who have made up their minds already are actually reacting pretty positively to him. Thirty-four percent of UNC fans think he should get the permanent job, only 14 percent are already saying based on what's happened this year that he should not," Jensen said.

Withers replaced Butch Davis, who was fired in July, just over a week before training camp started. The poll was taken between UNC's loss to Clemson and their victory over Wake Forest last weekend.
