(RALEIGH) -- Ten different sets of bills that would amend parts of the North Carolina constitution will be up for consideration by the General Assembly this week. Ran Coble of the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research said three main bills have a serious chance of being passed.
One of the measures, if approved, would put to a public vote whether to add language in the constitution that says marriage is between one man and one woman. Coble said some other major issue may also be considered.
"I think they'll look this bill about forbidding government from using it imminent domain powers, that is taking people's land for economic development purposes and then I'm told they may look at the bills on term limits for the legislative leaders," said Coble.
It takes a three-fifths vote by the legislature in order for a new amendment to pass.
