(RALEIGH) -- State Sen. David Rouzer of Johnston County plans to run for the 7th Congressional seat. Rouzer said the course of spending in the nation's capital must change.
"If we don't change course very, very soon, if we don't reverse course here, I'm afraid that our children and our grandchildren and even my generation will see a very, very different America than what we've know up to today," said Rouzer.
Rouzer will pursue the Republican nomination for the seat currently held by Democrat Mike McIntyre. "When you take a look at what's taking place in Washington, and it has been taking place over decades, the spending continues to increase. We now have a $14 trillion debt, going on $15 trillion. It's absolutely unsustainable," added Rouzer.
Rouzer will run against Ilario Pantano for the Republican nomination. Pantano lost to McIntyre in 2010. Rouzer is entering his second term in the State Senate.
