(RALEIGH) -- September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and the Rex Senior Health Center is set to offer health screenings for the uninsured next weekend. Rex physician, Doctor Leroy Darks, says it's best if prostate cancer is detected early.
"Prostate cancer is one of the most cureable cancer there is - almost 98 percent curable - if caught early."
Despite the success rate in treatment, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancer among men, trailing only colorectal cancer. Darks says the big issue regarding men's health is simply going to the doctor's office on a regular basis.
There is no cost to the Rex Senior Health Center health fair on September 24th. It lasts from 8:oo AM to 11:00 AM.
