(RALEIGH) -- A state and federal effort to arrest the state's worst child exploiters has resulted in numerous arrests and a promise of more to come.   "Operation Spyglass" allows law enforcement to track these child predators as they use technology to find their victims.

State Attorney General Roy Cooper said the arrests they've made include people from all walks of life.  "An active duty Marine Captain in Pender County, a teacher in Sampson County, a firefighter in Robeson County, a television editor in Wake County and a British man arrested for sending child pornography and suggestive gifts to a Catawba County girl that he met on-line," said Cooper.

In all, 24 arrests have been made so far in what is being calle, "Operation Spyglass." The effort has also served 27 warrants to seize computers containing thousands of images of child sex abuse. Cooper said this effort sends a message that trading images of child sexual abuse will not be tolerated in the state. The arrests so far have all occurred over the past two months and Cooper said more are expected.
