(RALEIGH) -- Students at another Triangle university will have to pay more to attend class now. The North Carolina State University Board of Trustees approved a proposal to increase resident undergraduate tuition by $330 for the 2012-13 academic year.
The increase, part of a tuition and fee package designed to help offset nearly $125 million in state funding reduction to the university over the last five years, now will go to the UNC Board of Governors for consideration.
The trustees also approved a proposal to allow the university to implement a one-time "catch-up" tuition increase that, if approved by the Board of Governors, would be implemented over the next five years.
The trustees also approved a proposed $84.45 annual increase to student fees, which will help fund student health services, student center activities, athletic operations and recreational sports.
The move comes the same week that UNC-Chapel Hill's board also voted to raise tuition voted to approve a proposal that would raise in-state tuition by $2,800 over the next five years.
