(RALEIGH) -- More than 1.2 million people are served by Wells Fargo bank in North Carolina. Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf spoke at North Carolina State University this week, nothing that North Carolina has more Wells Fargo branches than any other state.

"The people in North Carolina run the most extensive distribution; we have 320 stores here. One in 150 North Carolinians work for Wells Fargo. We have added jobs in many of our markets," he said.

Stumpf also said that his company is the 12th largest employer in the country.

Stumpf spoke in Winston-Salem earlier in the week. The "Occupy Wall Street" movement protested his speeches in both cities.
