(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- North Carolina Congressman Howard Coble is resting comfortably at George Washington University Hospital after experiencing respiratory problems earlier this week. Doctors at the Washington, D.C., hospital told Congressman Coble today that they have ruled out a stroke, pneumonia or any other concern other than an upper respiratory illness.
Coble's Chief of Staff, Ed McDonald said doctors told the Congressman that the respiratory problem has depleted his sodium levels. "They are pumping him full of IV to try to bring those back up, but the problem is they have to do that slowly. You can't do it all on one day," said McDonald.
The 80-year-old representative will likely be in the hospital for four of five days, according to McDonald. He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday.
